What is the difference between Altitude, Elevation and Height?

Altitude, Elevation and Height are terms that are often used interchangeably, but in survey and geospatial context, they can have slightly different meanings.

  1. 🛫Altitude: Vertical distance from mean sea level to the point being measured
  1. 🗻Elevation: Vertical distance from mean sea level to the point in terrain surface
  1. 📏Height: Vertical distance from the point of observation on the Earth’s surface to the point being measured
